Special thanks to Claver Brother Bishop Fernand J. Cheri, OFM , Auxiliary Bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans, for spending several hours of his Labor Day weekend to worship, dialogue, and fellowship with our Knights and Ladies from Xavier University of Louisiana Collegiate Unit #403.

The socially-distanced Mass and talk on racism, social justice, life, and vocations celebrated the work of our Patronal Saint, St. Peter Claver, and was also a call to prayer and service to help those affected by Hurricane Laura.

Bishop Cheri challenged each student to take charge of their lives and spirituality; to pray for and look out for one another; and to lead as compassionate and moral examples of God‘s love under His direction and guidance.

Xavier University Council #403 Grand Knight and Immediate Past Junior Supreme Knight Carrington Guillory and Court #403 Grand Lady Asha Richardson thanked Bishop Cheri and presented him with a token of appreciation for his leadership and participation.

The day wrapped up with a Labor Day Weekend barbecue sponsored by our own Saint Peter Claver Foundation.

1.000 N-95 masks were also donated to the chapel as a part of our national partnership Moldex to distribute 100,000 of the masks in urban communities across the country.

Special thanks to Lady Lisa McClain, Director of Campus Ministry, Brother Deacon Harold Vincent Sr., Pastoral Minister, Sir Knight Grant A. Jones, Executive Director, and all who made this event the success it was and who have consistently shown their commitment to developing the future of our Church and Noble Order.

Bishop Cheri has committed to regularly working with our Xavier Unit and to helping the Knights and Ladies be one true Sentinels of our Faith!

Thanks also to the Clarion Herald for announcing the event.
