The Clarion Herald, Official Newspaper of the Archdiocese of New Orleans
reported the dedication of the Claver Foundation Social Justice Mural in July of 2019!
A large mural sponsored by the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary is seen on the
all of the Catholic Newman Center at Texas Southern University in Houston. Some 120 youth
helped paint the mural, as well as the art wall, nearby. The mural has drawn attention as
demonstrations rocked the nation.
The NAACP Youth Council organized its 2-year stand-off with Canal Street businesses at
The Knights of Peter Claver Headquarters during the Civil Rights Movement in New Orleans.
